The Giftberry Foundation is a 501.c.3 non-profit organization that provides free web-based services to qualified charities, schools, and supporting business participants to automate and manage fundraising and administrative tasks. Our mission is to help charities prosper by making the fundraising process as convenient, simple, and economical as possible. Our Foundation is wholly supported through corporate donations, grants, sponsorships and generous individual gifts, which cover the costs of all our online services, and our current 0% credit card processing fee offer for MC/Visa transactions under $1,000.

GiftBerry.org Genesis - A Charity for Charities

Four years ago I was walking down a beach in San Diego with a friend, Barb Castleman, talking about how nice it would be to have a way for charities and businesses to connect for donations online. We had both been volunteering for our church and schools to do that very thing, contact local businesses for gala donations.

At that moment the notion of a non-profit organization "organizing" just such an enterprise began to take shape. A unique twist... to have business and individual donors sponsor the Charity software use, letting the charities take advantage of $100,000 or more per year in savings. After nearly three years of programming, a much larger beast, namely, Giftberry.org, emerged beta in January of 2009, with about eight charities using our site. Nearly one year later, over 800 charity members were using our services & scheduled to run more than 300 charity and school fundraising events in 2010. Projections for growth in 2010 is a ten-fold increase in Charity and School participation.

Giftberry.org is the only platform providing charities and schools FREE online fundraising, administration, and transaction capabilities as well as 0% MasterCard and Visa for online transactions under $1,000, allowing a significantly higher amount of the proceeds to go directly to the organization (other "FOR PROFIT" providers charge organizations 4-9% of the donation).

Giftberry.org was programmed and formed as a next generation business model under the guidance of Kevin Hincker, a web designer working on technology websites in the Los Angeles area. Having worked with Kevin on a previous online project, our strategy of sub-contracting the coding of the system, and acting as our own web consultants/designers has reduced costs 25-fold during the complete start-up process (total expenditure under 1M), and allowed for real-time feedback with local schools and charities to quickly improve the system. This business strategy allowed for time to make all parts of the GiftBerry system interact, and, we have used our own resources to retain complete control over the start-up process, rejecting numerous investor offers requiring a "PROFIT" business model. Having now matured into the ramp-up stage of GiftBerry.org, we expect a 1000% increase over the course of the coming years.

Giftberry.org operating costs are fully provided through ongoing use of system, while new programming components, growth, and upgrading of system are covered through grants and donations.

With the addition of Valerie Remy-Milora as Director of Development in 2009, our lean staff can now provide Charities and Schools with a complete set of tools (available previously at a premium of tens of thousands of dollars per year).
