How does GiftBerry get such a special deal?

Why do I have to pay anything?
Banks and Financial Institutions charge fees to Businesses (and Charities) for accepting credit cards. These fees can be called transaction fees, commissions, or charges, and amount to additional expense, which is usually deducted from the charity charges, prior to being deposited in your bank account. Most Non-Profits never know they are paying these fees. The ones that do, simply accept the 3-10% deductions as part of their business expenses.
GiftBerry has negotiated to reduce these fees substantially by offering discount fees specifically to non-profits, like us. Not only can you run debit and credit cards through GiftBerry.org free software, but also reduce expenses.
Why does GiftBerry.org charge a monthly fee?
GiftBerry has a one-time set-up fee to attach your bank information directly to the GiftBerry site, which is the cost to us to hook you up to our system. Once your Charity account is attached, all charges direct deposit to your bank for all credit card, and check transactions, and their associated reports. The GiftBerry.org monthly fee for this service is $39 per month, which helps us to maintain your transaction path, and pay for our customer service, should you have a question.
Can I use my existing bank on the GiftBerry.org site?
Yes, any bank can hook-up directly to the GiftBerry.org site, but you must use our Gateway to transact debit, credit and checks on our site.
What is a Gateway?
Gateway companies regulate money transfer between your credit card company the person making a credit card charge (for school tuition or a donation), and your bank. Most people don't even know that these companies exist, but if you currently accept credit cards, you have a gateway that transacts and figures all card charges, forwarding the proceeds to your bank, after subtracting fees.
Are my rates guaranteed?
Your rates are guaranteed as long as your Charity or School remains in good standing, and follows all rules and regulations of our processing partners.
You receive what we receive as a qualified special Charity partner. Other fees may vary, such as the debit card transacting companies, which charge a variety of rates. Unless your bank is paying your fees for you, our special rates might be the lowest rates you will find. Best of all, you receive GiftBerry.org software to transact all of your daily business for free! This can only help your organization.
What if some members don't have a computer?
Good Question! If members or families do not have access to a computer, your organization may want to provide access for them at your office (a terminal with a swipe hook-up), or, you may also take their information (credit card/code, or check info) over the phone for them. In addition, we will be implementing a system for cell phone credit transacting in 2009. There is almost ALWAYS some way for people to gain access to a computer, but, we are always striving to make our system more user friendly and flexible.
Can I use the GiftBerry Credit Card Bank Hook-up and not use all of the GiftBerry.org free services?
GiftBerry is designed to be free AND flexible. You may use as much or as little of GiftBerry.org as your school needs. But, you must use some part of our suite of services in order to receive our special rates. GiftBerry.org services are free, and unique, in being the only available system offering fundraising, school services, donation management, and yearly event software on one connected platform. It would be a shame for your school not to take advantage of services that were previously only partially available at $75,000 or more per year. We have created our site for the benefit of all non-profits, charities and schools.
